Tonight I noticed slight bleeding after sex & am now worrying.

Straight after intercourse I noticed pink coloured blood on the toilet paper when I wiped myself. DP also noticed blood on his finger. (sorry for TMI!) This has never happened before & I am panicking that it is a sign of something nasty.

I am on micronor (mini pill) & probably taking it slightly earlier this last week as I have just gone back to work after Christmas.

I will make a doctors appt on Monday, but it doesn't stop me worrying in the meantime.
My last smear was 18 months ago & came back clear.

Don't worry. GP appointment is good though. I had heavy bleeding during once - turned out to be a polyp on my ovary but totally not serious and fixed very easily.

it will be fine, I'm sure. But good luck!

Last period was the week before Christmas, but they can be all over the place with the pill.
I had no period symptoms before noticing this blood, but at one point it felt a little uncomfortable while we were having sex.

Thank you, OhBling. Am a real worrier at the best of times!

Could just be a harmless cervical erosion - but best get it checked.

No chance you were a little more vigerous than usual?

littleconcerned · 10/01/2009 23:08

I will get it checked but Monday seems a long way off when I am in panic mode!
Don't think we were more vigerous than usual. As DP saw blood on his finger I assume the bleeding started before intercourse. Had slight cramps after but all seems to have stopped now as does the bleeding.

Wasn't proper blood, but light pinky coloured blood. Hasn't stained my knickers - I just noticed it when wiping.

I've had this on and off over the years littleconcerned. Docs have always put it down to cervical erosion as slightlymad suggested. Doc explained to me that cells from inside the cervix can sometimes work their way out and get bashed about a bit hence the blood.
Would go to the Docs to get checked out though.

I did try googling it & saw something about cervical erosions. How are they treated?

faeriemoo · 10/01/2009 23:31

Could he have maybe scratched you a little with a fingernail?

SlightlyMadScientist · 10/01/2009 23:31

Mine aren't/haven't been treated - but they don't actually cause me any problems. I only know they are there because I was told after a cervical exam when I was pg. They are very common apparently.

loopylou6 · 10/01/2009 23:32

i really wouldnt worry to much, most likely is that dp has been a little eager with his finger, or you have a slight erosion which can cause bleeding but is nothing to worry about.

lisad123 · 10/01/2009 23:35

I would say likely to be cervical erosions, i have had them for years and get them on the pill or when preggy due to hormones. HTH and hope your GPis helpful

I've had laser treatment in the past after being referred to gynaecologist at hospital for investigation. Think it depends on how problematic it is/becomes.

littleconcerned · 11/01/2009 12:04

I had period type cramps in the night but no bleeding. Will try to get a doctors appt tomorrow.

No bleeding at all today. would have felt reassured if it had developed into a period, but this doesn't seem the case. The period type cramps have gone now too.

Have checked exh is ok to have children tomorrow, so hopefully will be able to get to doctors after work. Am in panic mode again & thinking worse case scenarios. Need to stop googling it!

It's very unlikely to be anything awful. I have had loads of bouts of this sort of thing, which were, variously: very minor erosion which cleared up by itself, ovulation bleed, over-vigorous partner with over-long fingernails (fecking musicians!).
Still, GP will be able to set your mind at rest. Best of luck.

hunnybun1981 · 11/01/2009 21:42

i had this for ages and i had to get a coloposy done its just laser down below.

nothing to worry about

littleconcerned · 11/01/2009 22:02

Thanks for your replies - they are helping to calm me a bit. laughed at your comment about the musicians, SGSJA. My DP has extra long fingers!!

Whenever I have a smear they make me bleed so i always get recalled - think that is because of cervical erosion...

littleconcerned · 12/01/2009 17:34

Well I have been to the doctors & she didn't seem too concerned as the pill can cause irregular bleeding & the bleeding probably started before sex as DP spotted some blood on his finger(sorry, TMI I know!) She took a swab for my reassurance & tried to take a look at my cervix, but it is apparently very hard to find, so not sure she saw much! I assured her I had one!!
She said to come back if it keeps happening, but for now she wasn't too worried. I feel pretty relieved now. Just hope it doesn't happen next time we have sex.
