DH has enlarged glands in neck - I am terrified

Please can someone help me keep some sense of perspective, as I am absolutely terrified my husband has a terrible illness like leukaemia or Hodgkins or something.

He has had enlarged glands in his neck for several weeks, and mentioned it to a GP about two weeks before Christmas, who sort of said 'wait and see'. They have not gone down and I am petrified. He seems to be quite 'snotty' and has lost 4lbs but can't think of any other symptoms.

DH does get quite anxious about his health and I don't know whether to share with him that I think he should see a doctor again, or try not to worry. I can't think about anything else and am in a real state of worry.

The GP said to wait and see and I think you have waited and there is no change so there is no harm in making another appointment. Don't live in fear when he might be checked out and all is fine.

It could be any number of things, possibly a virus like glandular fever.
He should go to the docs and get the standard blood tests to check.
DO n't be petrified. He should be checked out, but it probably isn't serious at all.

Had a sleepless night - kept touching DH making sure he was still there!

I have been on the Internet looking at swollen neck glands that have not gone after 3 weeks and it is all so scary, about lymphoma, leukaemia and awful things that could make him die.

Still totally terrified, tried to talk to DH about my fears but he doesn't think he needs to go to the doctor. But men always leave it too late.

Am I going mad?

The fact that he is still snotty and fighting a virus could well mean that his glands are enlarged still as part of the same issue. It does not necessarily mean anything sinister. My glands were up for over two weeks either side of Christmas. Much longer than the usual couple of days with a cold. This virus has lasted ages!
However, seeing as it is now a long time and your GP said wait and see, it might well be a good time to get it rechecked and see if he feels it is worth investigating further.
Talk to your DH and encourage him to follow it up. 3 weeks is a little unusual sounding - but not necessarily bad news.
