for some reason my leg has been aching this evening ... maybe it is the weather or something freakish like that! I get aches and pains in my leg when it is particularly cold or damp after a nasty break when I was a child. Could it be something like that? Try taking a paracetamol or ibuprofen and see whether it eases.

UnfortunatelyMe · 04/01/2009 19:42

ive taken a soluble asprin just after i wrote the op, not sure whether to lay here with my leg up or get moving?
I know the old break feeling, I have that in my wrist, this is different. LEts hope its the cold

any other risk factors apart from the pill? any recent travel/immobility? family history? previous?
wait till tomorrow then off to the drs for you. if you get any shortness of breath or pain in your chest go to a & e.

No previous family history, was standing up active when it first started aching, have been napping this afternoon so some inactivity, but I have got up, made dinner, had a bath etc...am going to get in another bath.

so no sitting still for hours then?
nice bath. paracetamol and ibuprofen. then drs tomorrow.

UnfortunatelyMe · 04/01/2009 20:01

Ok, will waggle legs in bath, was in bath for about an hour, but even that was interrupted...so not constant inactivity.
Still aching..wail. THANK YOU for your advice.

is it any better today?

UnfortunatelyMe · 05/01/2009 11:54

Yes thank you it is. I feel really stupid now...It isnt a blooming blood clot...I got up this morning and while the kids sat eating breakfast I picked up the guitar id borrowed at the weekend...and propped it up with my right leg...and instantly realised that THATS why my leg had been aching. I had sat for hours on Sat night propping it up and my legs not used to it......DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Pleased not to be dying
Hows yours?

mine was a cold weather thing ... I took an ibuprofen before bed and it resolved itself .. glad to hear you are still alive and kicking!

UnfortunatelyMe · 05/01/2009 21:30

Good Good It is blloming cold isnt it. HATE going outside. Just makes you ratty and irritated by having to be out there.

I know ... its soooo cold. I wouldn't mind so much but my work is freezing. We only have 2 small electric radiators and they have been off all Christmas so it is ridiculous. I spent all day yesterday with my hat, coat and scarf on ... as well as 4 other layers. Am being brave today and have removed the coat .. but no chance of the rest!
