Anybody else make the new years resolution "no alcohol for a month" and are now sat having a glass of wine?

Yep. I managed to 5.30pm on Jan 1.

I do plan to give up once all the booze is gone.

notnowbernard · 03/01/2009 20:28

It would be a tall order for me

Istead I go for 'no alcohol except at weekends' - much easier to stick to

merlin · 03/01/2009 20:29

I'm starting on Mon - no drink in week apart from Fri and Sat night!!

paddingtonbear1 · 03/01/2009 20:29

No. I did think about it but knew I would end up breaking it on day 1!

Lizzylou · 03/01/2009 20:30

I'd never bother, know I couldn't do it
Only at weekends easier (and normal for me anyway!)

I decided that after drinking my body weight in booze over the Xmas period, that I was going to give my body a break for a month! I didn't have any alcohol last night and had the best nights sleep for over a week. Woke up with all good intentions for tonight but after a day with a my 2 year old dd who has suddenly developed into a teenager with an attitude, I resorted to opening a bottle! I think I was only postponing the inevitable anyway!

I always field like I should, especially as I was totally wrecked on NYE this year! However, it was DH's birthday yesterday and mine in a couple of weeks, so it seems rude to give up now! Maybe I'll try in February. Oh hold on, SIL is 40th February and its Kbears birthday in March, so maybe I'll start at Easter!

MaureenMLove · 03/01/2009 20:54

Field like? WTH! AND I haven't had a drink yet! Obviously I mean feel!

Dalex · 03/01/2009 21:18

Hilarious. I can't remember half of NYE but felt so ill on NYD and had to look after DD's. Vowed to give up but am also sat having a large glass having been traumatised by a drive to Gatwick to pick up apair and getting lost on every junction. Also vowed to cut out junk food but finishing off a great curry! Am feeling happy tho

Indiechick · 03/01/2009 21:21

I made the resolution and am sticking to it, but it's so dull. DH has just gone to bed he's so bored, we're both drinking about 2 litres of water a day. Sure I feel better in the mornings and it's good for me, but would really like a large glass of rose right now!

Tee2072 · 03/01/2009 21:22

My DH.

He is trying to be supportive, since I am off it due to being pregnant. Didn't last long!

Flowertop · 10/01/2009 12:34

I did and have not have one drink. Believe me this is hard for me as in 8 years (since having DS2) have not had more than 7 nights abstinence! I have gone 10 nights without a glass of wine and can hardly believe it. I know that I won't give in now but I must say have not lost a pound in weight (is this normal?) but skin is looking much better and I have so much energy and feel good. Sorry to go on but have been drinking a long time and this is amazing/

BlaDeBla · 12/01/2009 08:50

Well done Flowertop! That is fantastic. I expect you are breaking the habit. I too drank my own bodyweight in alcohol, but have staved off pretty well since the New Year. I was feeling crap and SOOOO poisoned.

I don't think alcohol necessarily makes you fat. I think it is a bit of a myth.

How's everyone else's new year going?
