Hi all,
I confess to being a "dentophobe" (if that is the correct word). I haven't been to the dentist for years but had to go the other day due to bad tootache. Whilst there he told me that I have advanced gum disease (I can see where the gums are receding). He suggested some kind of deep cleaning treatment which involves a water-jet thingy! I am beside myself with worry, I don't want to lose my teeth. Anyone had this treament before or know anything about it?
Also, whilst I'm here, any tips on treating it with natural remedies? I'd like to try and help the healing process along myself.
TIA

Hi I'm not an expert but it sounds like you will be having a scale and polish which involves cleaning the tartar under the gum line. It is a bit uncomfortable but bearable. The last time I went I took a couple of paracetamol beforehand which I think helped. Dont worry it is honestly o.k !
Not sure about the natural remedies but try to floss twice a day and get those little brushes that clean between your teeth. Also try corsodyl mouth wash (it stains your teeth but they can remove the stains when you get your scale and polish) . Hope this helps.
