What's the advice on vomiting babies? I've washed puke out of my hair more times than I care to remember!

Help, 16mo dd brought up all her milk this morning, it was slightly diluted, 8oz water to 6oz formula. She also brought up her bottle last night (puked twice, once after bottle, again an hour later, milk same dilution) and once (whole bottle again, normal amount) the night before. I thought she was getting better yesterday although she hasn't much of an appetite. She is drinking water, quite a lot of it, so that's good. And she seems upset but not enormously so. What should we do today? No food for 24 hours? Just bananas? Dry toast/pitta? She is a bit lethargic but not worryingly so, i.e. she will look at a book and lift the flaps up. Eek, any advice welcome.

bless her, could she have little drinks, a few ounces at a time?? would stick to toast, pitta bread, dry biscuits etc too

Thank you. She's just slept for an extra hour (after 12 hours last night ) and seems a bit chirpier. I'll stick to dry pitta and water I think. Thanks.

Oh god no advice but massive sympathies (thought from the title it must be you!) xxxx

www I currently inhabit the same world as you. DT1 cannot keep her milk down (incl breast milk). Her temperature keeps heading for the skies. So her diet consists of dry toast, water, calpol and ibruprofen. Heres hoping it's over soon and that DT2 doesn't then get it. I'm so looking forward to warmer weather and a long bout of health. Kisses to you and yours.

Just been to emergency docs with same thing (dd is 11mo) was advised to keep her off milk for 24 hours then the half strength formula thing, give her rehydration salts and avoid ibuprofen as it can irritate their stomachs.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady · 28/03/2005 12:22

right no more ibruprofen. Thanks for that tip. Will stick to calpol.

Thanks everyone, MTMML, hope your other twin doesn't get it, I can't imagine it x 2, hellish! Thanks too disslocated and yorkiegirl, she's drinking lots of water and is eating a dry pitta as we speak. She seems starving but I think it's milk that's causing the vomiting so we won't give it to her tonight, she's only on morning and night time bottle atm anyway. Maybe it's time to drop them both. She's not entirely herself but isn't really, really ill so let's hoping it's a quick bug. Thanks for the sympathy MI!
