sore tongue and swollen glands ?

I had a bad cough and cold last week, which I still have. For the past few days my tongue really hurts and it has white stuff on but red in other areas (nice !) Today when ate my breakfast below my ears hurt and my glands are all swollen there, especially on the left. Ive been googling mumps it cant be that can it ?
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

sounds like it could be strep throat, as that present with a white and red tongue (it is called 'strawberry tongue', but looks like a strawberry in reverse.......white with red dots basically. would explain the other symptoms too.

if it is, you will need antibiotics as it is bacterial, but you will be fine.

BTW, not medically trained, but all my children have had this several times, and me too.....we seem prone to it!
