Have had severe dental phobia since an extremely bad experience in childhood. Didn't see a dentist for over 7 years at one point. Needless to say I ahve rubbish teeth BUT have been seeing my lovely dentist for the last 4 years now. Have had loads of work done over that time with him, all very stressful for me and him but we've worked our way through it with double triple appointments, cutting edge anaesthesia and new ultrafine drills (at his expense!).

Anyway, had a horrific abcess under a front tooth last week, got ABs from an emergency dentist and saw my dentist yesterday. He recommended drilling and draining the tooth, packing with AB paste and booking in for a root canal in the New Year ...AND I LET HIM DRILL ME WITH NO ANAESTHETIC!!!! All done in 20 mins. Sounds daft but I am so so proud of myself, I still can't believe I was able to let him do it. Tooth is zingy today but at least I know it won't strike again over xmas. Think I love him a little bit

I always fall in love with dentists

Mine is a total love too. Attractive, professional and oh so masterfully competent. I am putty in his hands and my teeth are ace now. We should have a nice dentists' appreciation thread!

I find dentists now so gentle, almost sensual when they examine you!. It is the hygenist I cant stand. I think she enjoys inflicting torture on everyone and telling them off for not cleaning their teeth properly.

Has anybody else had a filling with their baby lying on their chest? My dentist is so lovely, she suggested I put him there when he was getting upset in his buggy!

The previous dentist told me I had the teeth of a 50 year old ... I was in my early twenties!!!!!
