'Tis annoying - you know how they say don't fuss your GP with minor ailments?

well I turned up at the chemist this morning with a minor but annoying ear ache

It's otitus externa or something

& it hurts a lot - but it is hardly important just bloody painful

I saw the GP about a month ago got drops which fixed it while I took them - but it keeps coming back

I ran out of drops & I just wanted something to fix it

Apparently I have to see my GP - I reckon it will be emergencies only this week so it will be a walk in....but I did try to save resources etc ?

Good for you, I bet most of my patients on Monday morning won't have been as thoughtful. Most won't so much have taken a paracetamol for their cold.

BTW- We are seeing routine patients this week as well as emergencies and walk-ins. I am preparing for hell on earth!

Good luck for Monday. Perhaps OOH GP tomorrow if v painful??

Oh....I'm taking the co-codamol I have for sciatica......so it doesn't get too bad (please don't shout)

I have to take dd on monday and I'm dreading a surgery full of infectious people who have ignored the stay in bed thing.
dd's G-tube hole has gone all manky and I think its infected. Not something I can deal with myself especially as infection could travel into her abdominal cavity.
But I'm leaving my terrible back pain till after crimbo as a GP can't do anything about that anyhow.

Poor her

That is way more important than my ear (except I want to go swimming on holiday....actually no that is way way more important than my ear)

an ear infection is pretty nasy Katie and would be one of the things I would go for.
warm olive oil with a drop of tea tree in will soothe your ear if its external until you can get to the docs.

I feel guilty taking super strength co-codamol for it - but I only take 1 every 3 hrs or so.....I rationalise it by saying I'd have to take 2 paracetamol every 4 hrs otherwise so I'm having less paracetamol.......plus it helps my IBS

haven't taken dd yet myself. Hoping things get better by themselves. You tried a hot compress on your ear?
