for the last 6 months have had really bad acid in my gut, it gets to the point where I have a drink of water and I feel like it is really burning, if I drink coffee it's awful....it's only happened in the last 6 months and I hate the feeling....can anyone recommend anything as finding it hard to go without orange juice, coffee etc....answers very much appreciated

Lav, you can buy ranitidine over the counter in the chemist which can be effective.

I over-produce acid in my stomach and now take lanzoprasole - prescription only medication.

I think you should see your gp, if it hurts when you drink water, you might need something on prescription for a while.
