Second night of miserable sleep thanks to awful sore throat.

I have no runny nose to speak of, no high temp, no classic cold symptoms. However, I think I might have classic strep throat:
Very sore neck and swollen glands
Bright red back of mouth and weird twisty looking misshapen tonsils
Acute pain on swallowing
Very dry sore throat all the time
Can see a couple of smallish white spots on the back of my throat.

After plenty of googling, I reckon it sounds very much like a bacterial rather than viral sore throat (lack of cough, cold symptoms, white spots etc). So, should I just sit it out today, tomorrow and then the weekend and hopefully gone naturally by Monday OR should I go see if my "anti biotic are the work of the devil" believing GP and go show him my rather sore throat?
What do you think?

(going away on Monday so really don?t want it dragging on too long)

As you are going away on Monday, I would go to the doctors,

Hope you get better soon.

thank you tots2ten I think I might give in and ring the surgery later for a phone consultation so that if he thinks I am wasting my time I can feel better that I did not take up a physical appointment slot.
I am a wimp when it comes to GPs and have this awful embarrassing thing where more often than not I cry It is so silly. I think I wait until I feel so ill and so sorry for myself, worry myself silly about bothering them and get all uptight. When I finally go in after sitting there churning over and over what I am going to say (like a naughty kid seeing the headteacher) it becomes all too much. I know that is ridiculous, but it does make me look for any excuse not to go God, I can?t believe I have just admitted that!!!! Not even told my DH that one. Almost in tears thinking about being in tears.. Aaaaargh I am pathetic.

I hate going to the doctors, I really dislike taking the dc's to the doctors, its such a pita, you wait for ages to be told it a virus.

Good luck with the doctors,
