So DP had really really terrible teeth, the had a horrific phobia to going to the dentist (where he would just lose it in the chair and pass out...), so he didn't go to the dentist for years, even though he clearly needed to. I finally got him to go, and he'd left it too long and at the age of 36 has had to have a full extraction under GAm which was all pretty traumatic for him.
He was given a pair of dentures after the extraction, which were literally handed over to him at reception in the dentist (very unsympathetic dentist) and they just dont seem to fit properly, and look a bit too big for his mouth when he has them in. Apparently this was a sort of temporary pair and he should have another pair made.
He changed dentists and the new one suggested that he get private dentures, as they are much lighter and will be more comfortable. He has problems with the current ones slipping and coming lose, and is not eating properly because he is paranoid they will fall out when hes eating. I think hes lost about a stone.
When he went back to arrange to see the private dentist, he saw someone else who said private dentures would be a waste of money.
So what Im asking is, does anyone have private ones or know if they are any better? DP has been knocked for six by all this and has gone from being a happy go lucky confident bloke to someone who smiles less and wont eat in front of people because of these bloody teeth...
Any advice greatfully received...
