Hello.. just wondered if anyone has an experience of this condition, as indeed the title says!

My best friend went to the docs today with a lump in her breast.. quite a big lump which she only found 2 days ago (and she checkes regularly) which is giving her a vague feeling a bit like having mastitis.. but not that painful. The doctor examined her and said she has a similar lump the other side (which she hadn't noticed.) Her youngest is 22 months old and she mentioned that she so can still get a little breast milk type stuff if she tries to, IYSWIM, and very occasionally, a little milky stuff comes out on its own (without squeezing.) The GP (who is very good and thorough) said he thinks it is Lactorrhea. We have looked this up on the net and it seems to be called GALactorrhea as well.. or perhaps this is a different condtion?

The doctor said she should be VERY reassured by the fact that he is not feeling the need to send her for a scan - as has happened before as she has another lump that has been tested and declared as fatty tissue (couple of years ago now.) But it obviously v.worrying having a breast lump (have been through this too.. v.scary!) and she is being sent for blood tests, presumably to check for hormone imbalances that might have caused this condition.

Has anyone else had this? And has it gone away? If so how soon? (She was told she could have a drug to treat it if it IS this.. but the net stuff suggested that is usually just goes away on its own.)

SJ x
