Ds is on day 2 and I am just starting to feel rubbish. I am assuming he is off nursery for a day or two or is it likely to be longer? This would come at the busiest time of year ... grrrrr! Poor mite looks awful though.

he is 3.9 ... I have tried everything to persuade him to drink but to no avail! He isnt too bad when he is lying on the sofa watching tv ... his temperature just peaks from time to time. To be fair he is being good ... no whingeing except at night time when he wants to sleep in with us ... nightmare!

I'm on day 8 of the cough/throat/temperature one and been signed off for the rest of the week. It's bloody awful; but have just started eating for the first time in a week so may finally be on the mend. DD had it for a week, and DH had it for six days. I've done nothing for Christmas; and still can't get out of the house. Arrrgggh!

I hope you're not coming down with it as it's truly awful. Put Vit C and Echinacea on your shopping list

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 15/12/2008 16:42

I have a new lurgy

Woke up with another sore throat in the night. Now feel full of cold. I expect it is just a cold but for goodness sake! Completely forced myself to eat lunch today when I was out Christmas shopping as I really didn't fancy fainting.

Told dh rather pathetically that if I lost anymore weight then one morning he would wake up and all that would be left of me was my pjs! (colds do bring our the melodrama in me)

bodiddly · 15/12/2008 19:05

looks like we are all pretty miserable! my throat is soooooo sore .. was trying to read ds his mr men books at bed time and it was so painful I could barely speak!

DS2 definately seems better today, he got a wicked appetite. That's one week from when he first got ill. I'm feeling pretty much better today - still coughing like a seal, but I kinda feel like eating, and don't feel totally miserable.

crazyloon1 · 18/12/2008 08:00

Well done, NQC. Am proud of you. You give us hope.

Kitten - are you any better? I am feeling your melodrama here. My eardrum has burst which is just lovely really. apparently tres common after flu.

ds1 seems chirpy enough, ds2 still misery, my parents both have flu now...we are on our own I think today...don't you sometimes just want to throw in the towel?

singingtree · 18/12/2008 08:21

Ours just seems to keep changing from one thing to another - DS had earache last week and now is onto vomiting, while I have an achey flu thing that last a couple of days, goes away and comes back again.

I'm on Week 3 and if anything I feel even worse. Temp today is 39.7 and I can't stop coughing. I haven't eaten since Sunday.

I went to work Monday and didn't quite make it to dinner time. When do I need a sick note?

Sorry if it's TMI but does anyone else wet themselves when they cough? It is driving me mad. I'm on normal pant liners but if it carries on I'm going to have to ask DH to go and get some Tena

crazyloon1 · 18/12/2008 13:30

Oh dear yes

not too much but occasioanlly a tiny bit...tis normale I think after children.

Bloody hell though week three? has it been consistently this bad?

i couldn't even sit at computer yesterday, you are quite brave

LoveMyGirls · 18/12/2008 13:40

Dp started with a temp on 6th dec, Dd2 and I have been ill with the same thing (temp, cough, runny nose, feeling achey, headache - feel like I'm being kicked in the head) since the 9th dec I really need to get better asap, I've been to docs who said it's a virus and could take up to 3 weeks to fully feel better. I'm now at the point of feeling ok if I take painkillers at the right times and get enough sleep - the enough sleep/ rest is tricky though because I need to work and dd2 is waking us through the night. Roll on being better!

MincePirateCat · 18/12/2008 20:32

lurgy here, really pissed off. dd is finally asleep. i just feel so isolated when she is off ill.

i'm ill too, but don't care about me, i am a grown up, it's v distressing to hear her cough so much.

i might go to gp 2morro, but wonder if there's any point tho.

LoveMyGirls · 19/12/2008 08:12

I went to the gp he said nothing he can do

I'm fed up of being fed up and ill now, dd2 is only 3 and is coughing all the time bless her. We both went to bed as soon as I finished work last night and I will prob do the same later if my head doesn't give up banging. It feels like it's lasted forever I can't remember not being ill!

MincePirateCat · 19/12/2008 08:53

i am wondering if there is any point to me going to se the gp in half an hour. I am thinking we will be encountering more bugs at the surgery. I just worry about her chest.
