is this a sypmtom of asthma?

Ive suffered with asthma throughout my childhood, thought I knew the signs of an asthma attack well, but..
went to see my gp last week re: shortness of breath (no wheezing, or the cold uncomfortable mucusy feeling in my lungs when having an asthma attack) just feel as though I cant get enough air.

She simply stated that it was clearly asthma and then proceeded to listen to my chest and exclaimed "gosh youre so wheezy!" which was a bit a of a shock, I felt fine.

is the feeling that you cant get enough air into your lungs really related to asthma?

Yes, of course it is. It might not be as severe an attack as when you're audibly wheezing but it's definitely a sign. Not being able to breathe out well is also a sign. Do be careful. Has your GP upped your medication?

ABsolutely.

You can have chronic and acute asthma attacks, and you sound like you are having a chronic attack.

many thanks to you both, yes she did give me the brown inhaler which i previously didnt have...in addition to some more blues

Hope you can stabilise things now. Ask at your surgery about regular asthma clinics. I see my asthma nurse on a regular basis to manage my medication properly. It's great!
