When you have an optician's appointment and choose new glasses, do you have to pay there and then?

My dad has offered to pay for new glasses for me as DD bent the arm of my current ones irreparably I've got an appointment in the morning for an eye test and to pick glasses. My dad hasn't actually given me the money yet, so I was wondering if I will have to pay tomorrow or when I go to collect them. TIA

You pay when you order them, which is about an hour before you get them.

Bollocks. I've got no way of getting the money from him. Whenever I've got new glasses I've always had to wait about a week to collect them. I do have v bad eyesight though. I'm going to have to cancel the appointment, aren't I?

I'm stumped now. I haven't got enough to pay a deposit and my appointment's at 9.30. I do have a tax credit exemption card but I'm not sure what help I get with glasses from that. God I wish DD hadn't broken my glasses!

if worst coems to worsty just get the test done and then go back to pick and pay

Yes just get your test done, and say you are waiting or your Dad to give you some money to buy new glasses - they cant force you to buy glasses there and then and from them!
