HEARING AID USERS - EAR INJURY HELP PLEASE?!

DD banged heads with another child today. It caught her one the side of the head, presumably against where her hearing aid is. upon removal of the aid there is blood in her ear canal but I cant see a cut as such. There doesnt seem to be blood that far down but i'm not 100%.

Is it worth a trip to audio clinic? Or maybe the gp?

Is she old enough to tell you if the aid isn't working properly?

My guess would be to wash the ear with a damp cotton bud and see GP if worried, but I've never really followed any official guidance on ear care!

I would go with notcitrus' approach. If the HA is working still then I wouldn't bother with the audio clinic.

If you need someone to get a better look at dd's ear it might be worth asking for an appointment with the nurse at your GP's surgery.

okay - thanks. I didnt know if a cut in her ear would need ent or just gp?

I'll check the aid when the mold has dried - it was caked in dry blood

cant believe the school missed it if they were assessing the injury but hey ho.

Poor dd.

If you're in any doubt at all then definitely check with the GP.
