DH fell down the stairs last Sunday and now has a strange bump on his lower back, and ideas?

He was carrying an extension lead and tripped over it, the silly bugger. He landed on his lower back, slightly to the right of his spine.

It was painful for a few days but no sign of damage (no bruise or swelling). From around Wednesday he had a wee bump, and it was a bit more painful.

He raked the (large) lawn yesterday and cleared away the leaves and now has much more pain and it has swelled up even more.

What do you think?

Torn muscle? They can swell if damaged - to protect the muscle.

Ibruprofen can help to reduce swelling, as it is an anti-inflammatory. He should go see the Dr who can give him stronger anti-inflammatory medicine if ibuprofen does not work.

That could be it. That would explain why it got worse after the garden work too.

I have given him iboprofen away with him but he is too manly to take painkillers. He seems to think it is better to suffer
