Is this just part of the cold or should I keep an eye on it?

I've got a horrific cold with a bad chesty cough. It's completely wiped me out and I've got no energy at all. I can barely get through the day. It's the chesty cough that I'm wondering about though. DP and DD both have the same cold but their coughs are clearing up and becoming drier. Mine is still very chesty and productive (haven't looked what colour or anything ) and I'm finding it quite tough to breathe. It's like my body is struggling to find the energy to expand my lungs. I'm not wheezing or anything. Is this just part of the cold or should I watch it? When should I go to the docs with it? TIA.

I have had the same this week - I am ok for energy though. You do need to look at the colour of the 'production' though!!

Mine is clearing up but night before last I was struggling to breathe. 2 puffs of ventolin inhaler sorted me out though - I have it as I get asthma from cats.

Are you taking cough medicine? I am taking an expectorant and am making sure I take it every 4 hours - doc told me last time that you really need to do this. Am also taking lots of vit c - 3000mg per day and a good multi vit and one of those fizzy echinacea and zinc tabs.

I haven't taken anything for it, I thought cough medicines weren't supposed to work? I did think of making my own from hot water, honey and lemon juice as I've got all those in the house already. I probably should take vitamins but money is short atm. I haven't got much appetite anyway but I'm forcing myself to eat a bit.

Usually, colds and chesty coughs can take two weeks to get over. Some recover quicker than ever. It can be exhausting having mucus sit in your chest. If after 2 weeks you are feeling worse rather than better, than off to the doctor you should trot.

Ment to type quicker than 'others'.

OK thanks for that. I've had it for almost a week now so I'll go next week if it's still bad.

Sorry - friend over and then school run etc!

Try to drink lots of fluids. Try to eat - hard i know if you have no appetite.

If you can get some vit c do so.

Ta Buda. Drinking loads and forcing a bit of food down. Hopefully it's just a nasty cold and it'll go soon.

Hey maybe your landlord and I are related
