Eurodynamics test - has anyone had one? Why is my consultant scaring me with tales of how horrible it will be?

I am having to have one as I have a prolapse,(after 4 kids!) and the consultant could not stress enough how horrible it will be almost as though she doesn't want me to do it?....am confused and worried it's on 25th November.

Please if anyone has done this can you talk to me?

I haven't had one personally, but do know a bit about them. As I understand it, its not the most pleasant thing in the world, and obviously is rather embarrassing, but I've never heard it described as horrible. I certainly know men who have these repeatedly to monitor their progress and they keep going back.

Perhaps call the ward/department you are going to to get one of the nurse specialists to talk to you about it. They are much better at describing how things really are compared to the consultant.

I had one - well two. It is embarrassing and intrusive, but not much more than many other medical tests/investigations. Just don't talk while it's going on - no matter how chatty the nurse is - because it is important that the line on the monitor (they'll explain and show you) remains as straight as possible. That was my downfall - the nurse kept chatting and making little jokes and I kept on responding, so my line was so wiggly that they couldn't make an assessment and I had to have it done again. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice Jux, I will remember that!

It involves having to pee into a funnel in front of someone- not the most dignified experience, but not overly unpleasant.

I like the sound of Eurodynamincs- more continental perhaps?
