It is just the infections (chest/ear & urine) I have isn't it?

I will get better won't I?

I am such a mess

PussinJimmyWhoooos · 14/11/2008 21:42

Thats a lot of infections in one go...go easy on yourself and mnet to stay distracted!

DoNotAsfinishedXmasshopping · 14/11/2008 21:43

you still not over the chest infection from a couple of weeks ago?

i think you are entitled to plenty of hugs and sympathy

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 21:45

I had three weeks clear I think then I got it again (with bells on)

3rd lot of ab in 6 weeks

I feel like I have been hit by a bus/truck

OP posts:
DoNotAsfinishedXmasshopping · 14/11/2008 21:53

Sounds like it wasn't quite treated completely and those tough little bastards were waiting for you to be a little run down again before mounting attack.

I genuinely do hope you are better soon. If you see Slubbers about (she is back) give her a prod as she gave me some very good physio type breathing excercises to do and it really did help (you may have them from DH's persistant CIs). Tell her I sent you

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 21:58

Dh does a breathing thins so he can cough up

I cant do that my muscles are quite weak - I never manage to cough up

DD is having a birthday party tomorrow & I don't think I can even go

OP posts:
DoNotAsfinishedXmasshopping · 14/11/2008 22:00

Oh well..was just a thought. I don't remember it taking much msckle though it was something about huffing...

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 22:05

I've put a thread out for her

I could do with anything atm

Chest ear and urine infections together? Crikey, that sounds grim. Poor you.

You will get better. Horrible in the meantime though.

SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 22:08

hi Katy. Poor you.

Active Cycle of Breathing Technique is very effective for sputum removal.

What colour is your sputum?
when did you last see your GP?

Keep up with Abs, & paracetamol
lots of fluids
steam inhalation (vicks or anything like that)
sleep+++
socks
get your hair off your face
[last 2 not scientifically researched]
non mn hug for you

DoNotAsfinishedXmasshopping · 14/11/2008 22:10

Oh yes I had forgotten teh prescription hair off the face...but always make sure you have socks on when Slubbsy is in the room else you pay dearly .

I do hope you can shift this quicker than the last one.

SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 22:18

Mark my words, you'll never get better with hair in your face or cold feet.

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 22:21

PeaMcLean - Chest urine AND ear........(see self-pity)

Slubber - can't get any phlegm up - I have CFS - it gets so far, but never quite far enough - The active breathing is very similar to what DH does, but it doesn't work very well for me

Saw GP Yesterday - she said 'Oh Dear' & I turned the dipstick into a rainbow of colours

I am quite dehydrated (urine infection as well )

Lots of steam/paracetamol (with an occasional bit of codiene ) my ears are killing me

I am on Clathrimycin (for the second time) & way back in Sept I had Co-amoxyclav

Of course I am panicking as DH has recurrent chest infections

Socks are a constant

OP posts:
SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 22:33

Have you had a chest x-ray?

Does it feel like you have phlegm that you want to get up, or do you have a dry cough?

With the ACBT it's important to try a few cycles (with lots of relaxed breth control in between) as each cycle can shift the secs up a bit until you are able to huff them up and out. Try and avoid cough, cough, cough coughing. if you feel a coughing fit coming on, just try to do the breathing control.

hard I know.

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 22:37

No xray

My chest feels full of liquid but 3/4 of the time I have a dry cough

I will eep trying with the breathing - I am using the controlled bit to reduce the coughing a lot of the time anyway

OP posts:
SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 22:41

hmm, so you can't feel or hear a crackly like sensation in your chest? Normally a productive chest will give you a really fruity sounding cough. What else did your GP say?

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 22:45

The fruity (I like that word) is the other 1/4 of the time & it bubbles somewhere in my right boob

I also whistle - a lot

GP wasn't very informative apart form the 'if you aren't better do come back....'

Oh & the ab would fix the chest and the urine and the ear

OP posts:
KatyMac · 14/11/2008 22:46

crackly - not sure

Like bubbling custard when the bottom of the pan is too hot

OP posts:
SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 22:49

ooh yes, lovely, that sounds like some nice juicy secretions. You have to drink loads, being dehydrated will just dry up your secs and make them all thick and sticky and really difficult to get up.

Lots of well diluted sugary squash and steam inhalations. Do the ACBT in the bathroom with the shower going HOT for lots of steam.

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 22:59

So far today I have drunk about 3.5l

I am awash

I am depressed

I have no energy

OP posts:
SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 23:03

well 3.5l is certainly enough. Are you eating well too? Lots of vit C and zinc, green leafy shit etc. And liver. You sound very run down.

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 23:11

Very little food

I can manage toast (no butter), baked beans but only very small portions - no chocolate or jaffa cakes or anything I crave food but when it's put in front of me I can't eat it

Dh phoned his mm to say she could come to stay after Christmas as we are booking a holiday to try & get me better - My mum & dad arrived here today to lend us the money to pay for it - & I can't even get excited enough to book anything

I am all wet & sweaty

Can you see the whole self pity thing?

OP posts:
SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 23:14

well I think you are allowed to feel full of self pity when you are feeling so shit.

Back to the GP again I think if no improvement by monday.
Can you force down a multivit tablet once a day?

KatyMac · 14/11/2008 23:17

I will have had 4 tablets by then - should I wait until they are finished before going back?

I think I want other people to make all the decisons for me/pamper me/look after everything else for me & I don't think it is going to happen

OP posts:
SlubberOverTheYardArm · 14/11/2008 23:22

oh, ok well hold out until you have finished the course, but def go back if you think your breathing is deteriorating.

sadly good servants are so hard to come by these days
