I have a really bad chest infection - to go into work or not is the question

I've had it for a week. First lot of antibiotics have not touched it.

Now on 500 mg of Klaricid.
Went to hospital today to have chest x-rays.

Am coughing for England.
Can barely stop. Can't laugh or take slightly large breath out without having coughing fit.

Coughing has given me headaches.

New lot of antibiotics have long list of side effects and also possible side effects. Says on it doctor may increase to 500 mg in severe infections which is what I'm on - 500 mg twice a day.

Woman who sits opposite me is heavily pregnant.

I'm not ill per se, don't have shivery flu bug, but I do i have a bit of a temperature.

Do I go in to work tomorrow or am I best off at home?

no no no no no - you are not fit for work. Hope you get better soon.

Get the thought of work out of your head right this second.

  1. you are really unwell, whether you are highly feverish or not.
  2. There is a pregnant woman opposite.

Two very good reasons.

Really. Cos I feel bad being at home but do feel like it's best to stay at home. Also feel bad coughing non-stop around a pregnant woman. I literally am bent in half coughing until I sort of choke / gag.

But still feel bad not being at work.

Just need reassurance I'm not being bad staying at home.

It would be bad to go to work. STAY AT HOME - you are not skivving you are unwell.

twoluvlykids · 12/11/2008 16:51

do not go to work!!!!!

stay at home with a snuggly fleece over your knees and a good book.

southeastastra · 12/11/2008 16:51

stay home, if it's the same bug we've had it's really awful, so many off with it. i gave it to one girl at work.

hope you're better soon

Thomcat · 12/11/2008 16:52

oh pants, didn't mean to cross out "not"

Thomcat · 12/11/2008 16:53

Hmmmmm have just started a really good book - 'Across The Nightingale Floor' by Lian Hearn.

Fleece and a book sounds good.
Work sounds bad.

Thanks.
