Medical circumcision

It looks like 3 yr old DS will need to be circumcised as his foreskin is extremely tight and is not coming back at all - even with 'stretching' exercises.
Sorry to be utterly dense but how serious is the op and how long will he take to recover?

DS was circumcised because... (I am going to be flamed and have therefore namechanged like a coward) ... I believe it is cleaner and perfectly acceptable practice on grounds of medical prevention.

Why make him suffer and then have it done when he is older, when it will be more painful and more traumatic.

My DS slept through it and has no recollection of the procedure I'm sure. There was a boy there who looked about 4 or 5. He definitely knew what was going on and he definitely did not enjoy the experience.

If you think it will have to be done at some point, sooner is better than later.

My dh had it done recently and he was sore for a couple of weeks but it healed fairly quickly and he said it was more uncomfy than painful. He was back at work a couple of days later and was quite happy to check all was working properly asap! The younger it is done the quicker it heals and less painful it is meant to be so hopefully if necessary it won;t be too traumatic for your ds.
