its because the AB's kill off the good bacteria as well as the bad, but the bad, including fungi like candida (thrush) can re colonise much quicker than the good ones,

try the friendly bug supplements. I prefer solaray ''multidopholis'' as it is enteric coated (so the bugs are not killed by your stomach acid but can make it through to the alkaline environment of your intestines that they live in) and have 20 billion bugs per pill. when on AB's take half way between doses. the vaginal infection if recurring will also be helped by these. the yog drinks are not much use as the 2 million or so bugs they have are exposed to the acid of your stomach and most are killed off and there are only 2 million or so. most of these drinks also contain sugar which is what things like the candida and bad bugs love to eat!!
there are many trillions (several hundred trillion I believe) friendly bugs at any one time in your gut, but even a 10% drop in numbers can be detrimental to your overall health!

Misi- whats them 'multidopholis' things then? where can i get them from?
I started taking acidopholis capsules to replace the good bacteria or something like that but keep forgetting to take them.

www.nutraceutical.com/search/view_product.cfm?product_index=7670017

this is the US site, if you use the solaray UK site, no description comes up for some reason????

anyway, I have mislead you a bit there, looks like solaray have withdrawn the 20billion product and replaced with the 10 billion (EU regs kicking in I think but at 10 billion, it will still be a great product and has the 12 most popular strains of bugs in them, very few if any have that many strains!!

ooops, sorry, forgot, if you google this you will find online stores that sell them or you can visit your local independent health store to see if they stock them or can get them in for you

The only 2 tims I have had thrush was while on ABs. The second time it was a week after I had DS with 5 lots of stiches and the Pharmacist said I couldn't have anything for it I came off the ABs in the end!
