Has anyone actually managed to get their pelvic floor muscles back into shape?

Tell me there is hope for me.

2DS.

Had the standard French "réeducation du périnée" (re-muscling pelvic floor) after DS1 - 10 sessions with a physio.

After DS2 I only did a few sessions because the physio was crap.

I have half-heartedly done a few squeezes and even bought some "geisha balls" and can't keep them in even for a second.

DS2 is coming up for 2 btw, but I am still bf him and I had heard that you can't back to 'normal' while still bf - is this a myth?

go to pilates.

No pilates around here in rural Normandy!!!

But I did invest in a pilates DVD many moons ago - it just seemed a bit dull, only did it once.

Maybe I'd better give it another try.

i also read that putting a mango seed up your fanjo could make you feel like a virgin.. that was in an indian newspaper

I've found regular exercise including an hour of yoga each week has helped.

My main prob was stress incontinence - had to cross legs in Tesco aisles when I felt a sneeze coming on, kind of thing.

Yes I know that feeling frayedknot!

I do plenty of exercise but I don't think most of it is very good for the pelvic floor.

I had a gynae physio and she gave me a probe with contacts on and a TENS machine type of thing. The probe is conected to the machine and put in your fanjo

The TENS send an electrical surge on a 10 sec cycle that causes the pelvic floor to contract and release. 3 10 min sessions of this for 2 months got my PF back

It can be done, it's just a bit undignified

HaventSlept - pilates is the answer, if you can't get to a class, your mantra needs to be "zip up and hollow", meaning "zip up" you fanjo, thinking about pulling it up into your womb, and "hollow" - imagining your bell button is stapled to your spine.

you need to do this all the time!

gets easier with time.

when I was pg, ante natal classes told me to "squeeze" dh after sex, b/4 he withdrew.

when i did this he used to say "What you doin", now, after 5 years of pilates, he says "Ow let go!"

Ok, will get the pilates dvd out then. It's just so DULL!!!

I've done the squeezing after sex thing, but he certainly doesn't say "ow!"
