He doesn't actually know I am seeking a buddy for him but he'll be glad if I find him one I reckon.
I am a great believer of group support, so I reclon this would help both of you to talk through symptoms and feelings etc?

Anyone?

(its a stopping smoking drug incase anyone who is reading this didn't know)

Sorry Suwoo, can't provide your dh with a buddy! But my DH is 3 months and 2 weeks on from your dh and has not had a cigarette for 3 months. And I am not talking about a man who had a social smoking habit or even a 10 a day habit. My dh was a committed smoker since the age of 14 (he is 41) and smoked about 25 a day. He has done brilliantly with not too many grouchy days.

By the way, most people give up smoking before the first two weeks of taking the tabs are finished. But my dh was convinced they were not working as he actually smoked more for those two weeks and only gave up when he absolutely had to. His Carbon Monoxide levels actually went from 30 to 37 during those weeks and the GP was very sceptical about his chances of giving up. BUT HE DID!

Hi ags, thanks for replying. He has been so sick with them (15 times yesterday)the doc has told him to stop for 2 days incase he has a sickness bug. I am worried that he will use this as a free ticket to stop giving up .

Oh the poor guy! Dh had none of that at all so it could be a bug. I hope he gives them another go.

Redazzy · 06/11/2008 14:56

Its Ags by the way. I just namechanged.

suwoo · 06/11/2008 15:42

He has tried them before and felt really nauseus last time too, but he didn't vomit this many times. He still stopped taking them though. He has tried patches, inhlators, champix and hypnotherapy. God knows what it will take for him to stop. (He is a 30 a day Embassy man)

Oh blast. It does sound like they don't suit him then.

suwoo · 06/11/2008 20:29

God, please don't say that. I really want him to give up- more than he does probably.

How are things Suwoo?

suwoo · 08/11/2008 23:10

Hiya! Good actually. He has taken his tablet again today after the two days off and just a mere hint of nausea . He has had 10 fags today, so thats fantastic for a Saturday (considering he's had 6 cans!) Thanks for asking x

Any news on the project. I've been trawling for champix threads because I'm on day eight and have started puking today. Seem to be cutting down the fags though so I guess it must be working. Did have a Chinese take away tonight though so might be the lemon chicken and not the Champix.

I'll be his buddy if he still needs one.

I am in the minority on this site but there is a tiny weeny little dadsnet if you look hard enough.

Day 2 on Champix wish me luckGrin
