ds has dry sore cracked finger tips

I don't know why - I have searched online and found no explanations either. They are always like it, nit just since the weather got cold. Any ideas? thanks...!

any other symptoms anywhere else on or in his body? anything I mean not just cracked skin!!

Hi, he has asthma, which has got worse since the weather got cold, but his hands were bad before that anyway.
He is a bit prone to dry skin, not really eczema, just goes a bit dry looking, but his body is fine at the moment.
His finger tips are really dry and have cracked open and have sore parts. I have been putting vasceline on at night.

tigi - i use atrixo on mine and when split open protect with plaster. He might not be drying his hands properly or the soap might be irritating them.

You could try adding flax seeds to his diet (sprinkle them on stuff) -- I've seen that recommended various places for this problem. He also needs to make sure his hands are dried properly after washing.

okay thanks - he is very good about washing his hands after the loo etc. I will watch in the morning how well he dries them, to see if it could be that.
He will just about tolerate a bit of vasceline on them at bedtime, but he will wipe the surplus after I finish!

agree with gunpowder, adding omega3 either by flax of fish will do no harm and may be an answer.

nothing comes to mind at the moment but will have a trawl through my books. are his toes ok? what is the asthma triggered by? how old is he? does he go swimming regularly? anything else that he does regularly?
