breast pain - I am getting worried

I have pain in my left breast. It gets a bit worse when period is due but has been getting steadily worse over the last year or so.

My boobs are quite lumpy (bf for 15 months 2 yrs ago and boobs have shrunk alot) but cant feel any obvious lumps.

Should I go to doc and should I be worried. What could it be ?

Sorry , it is playing on my mind more and more

I think other people will come on and be able to tell you lots of innocuous things it could be, like infected glands or something? I don't know about that, but my experience is that I had pain and a lump and went to doc and it was just more lumpy breast tissue migrating into a different area.

Want to reassure you but can't, so I think I would go to the doctor.

I would say though, if they want to screen you, go for an ultrasound rather than mammogram. But hopefully it won't come to that.

Bf is good protection as you know.

I get the same thing. Went to the Drs a few years ago who told me to keep a pain diary as she said it sounded like cyclical breast pain. Mine is worse before and during a period then calms down. Dr gave me a prescription for gamolenic acid capsules (evening primrose), which helped. Don't think they prescribe them now though. Low fat diet and cutting down on caffeine helps too,but if you are worried see your GP.

In your place, I would go see a specialist.

I have recently gone through this but had a definite lump. I was referred to a breast clinic where I had a mammogram and an ultrasound scan. The lump is a very small cyst. The relief was enormous. Do get it checked out.

There is something called Tiezers or Teitzers Syndrome which causes chronic breast pain: it isn't life-threatening and will eventually go away but it is a miserable ailment. Have you tried taking ibuprofen? As Tiezers is an inflammation of the muscles behind the breast, ibuprofen helps.
But do see your GP ASAP, it's horrible to have constantly sore breasts so the sooner you get it sorted out the better.
