I am a regular but need to name change as I will feel really silly if this turns out to be ok.
Has anyone had this, I would have thought both lumps would be on the same side if conected?
I can't go to the doctors at the moment cos I am in middle of sorting out insurance and I am worried I won't get cover if this is on my records.
I am having a panic as I have seen someone die of cancer recently but I also wonder if I am turning into a hypo condriac as I seem to have had a few health things recently, I know I need to get it checked out but I am scared to do so. Positive stories welcome.

right groin?

If it is then it sounds like you are run down and are fighting off a wee virus i often get swollen glands in my armpit and groin when i'm not well

Anna8888 · 12/10/2008 10:40

Are you in the UK?

You really must go to the doctor.

beanieb · 12/10/2008 10:48

Hiya - I found a lump in my groin (left) last January and had some blood tests and a scan done. They haven't found anything yet (And the lump has since gone) but I am being referred to a urologist because the scan showed some swelling near my left Kidney. Your nodes basically swell when they are fighting infection and so this may be why. Have it checked out, particularly as you have found 2 lumps. It may just be that your body is fighting a mild infection but it's better to be safe.

no right breast, left armpit. The lump in breast is pea size but not sore the lump in armpit is same size but not as hard and that one is sore.

i would go and get it checked out breast lumps cant be left or ignored.

fullmoonfiend · 12/10/2008 10:54

It does sound like classic glands fighting an infection tbh. Armpit and groin, classic. Call NHS direct if you cannot see a doctor, to put your mind at rest. Or even, pop into a pharmacist.

Shouldipanic · 12/10/2008 10:57

it's armpit and breast but. On opposite sides, I have just finished anti biotics for something else so not sure it could be an infection.

They sound to me like abcesses, if they are they are harmless, I have them all the time, and often have to have surgery to remove them.

But please please get them checked out by your GP, it is always bettter to be safe and a little embrassed, than sorry, (sorry about the harshness of it but sometimes that is whats needed.

Hope everything goes ok for you.

i'm going to be even more harsh. if it is what you are panicking about, having insurance but delaying start of treatment is a really stupid thing to do. and the insurance company will read the gp's notes in any case, and see that you have noticed the lump prior to the start date of insurance... unless you are planning to go to the doc and say 'i've just found it' a month down the line. not worth it. get it checked out.
fwiw - i've had a couple of lumps in breast/ armpit that have been nothing sinister, but waiting a week or two to find that out just screws up your head. it doesn't sound too alarming, but needs prompt investigation anyway.
my mum had her breast cancer surgery last month.
hope it's all ok.

Shouldipanic · 12/10/2008 11:08

I will get them looked at once I have my insurance sorted out, I have had cysts before but the breast one feels different the armpit one Is sore so I think that could be an infection, I can't tell anyone in RL about this cos I know they would worry.

that's part of the worry I don't have insurance at the moment but that will be sorted this week, then I can go to doctors, I don't think I will get life insurance if it is on my notes before I get insurance.

oh - ok - thought you were talking about medical insurance! if you need life insurance for mortgage etc then it should be really easy to set up fast. if you are worried you don't want to delay doc too much for your own peace of mind really...
i had an armpit lump on my honeymoon. it was extremely sore and i was petrified, but didn't go to the doc until i got home. it was nothing (lymph node fighting infection) but ruined my entire honeymoon lol.
try not to stress - if you are adamant you aren't going to the docs yet then it'll probably have disappeared by the time you get an appointment!
won't even begin to start on ethics . try not to stress.

shouldipanic · 12/10/2008 20:44

it's not the armpit lump that i am so worried about, its the breast lump which is the size of a large pea and just behind my nipple. i will get insurance sorted and then go to the doctors. i can't tell anyone i know about this as one of my friends has breast cancer.

what's the delay with the life insurance? ours was fairly quick - online application and they sent forms to sign... not going to lecture but you know the score...
sending 'don't panic' vibes, hope the insurance is sorted quick and you can get a fast gp appointment.
