What does Local Anaesthetic mean re: looking for Polyps / Cysts etc?

Hi,

I'm probably going to have to have an exploration to look for polyps, cysts etc. by my Gynaecologist. He has said he can fit the Mirena coil for me at the same time if all looks healthy.

He said he'll do it under local anaesthetic. I'm not sure what he means by this. Local to where IYSWIM?

Sorry for being thick!

TIA

Well, the local for the cone biopsy I had was into the cervix itself. It wasn't painful though, just a quick sting - but nothing more than than quick. It was ok though. I would imagine that the local he is talking about will be in the same place. If it is, it's nothing to worry about.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Red. Sorry to hijack the other thread but you sounded like you might know the answer .

Hope you are okay. When do you get the results?

the results of the colposcopy are usually about 6 weeks (they don't rush!) so. i'm presuming about the same amount of time. No worries about the hijack - glad to help!
