I need to make myself eat, what can I try?

I haven't really eaten since last week, just a few bits of fruit and some toast. I feel constantly sick and full but I should probably eat something. I bought a steak pie (usually my favourite thing) but I can't face it. What should I try? If I really can't eat what should I drink?

Well, apparently drug addicts are told to eat cereal, such as cornflakes, as lots of vitamins in them and the milk is good for you too

(Not implying you are on drugs tho!)

Have you been ill? I normally like comfort food such as tomato soup if I'm a bit off colour.

noonki · 06/10/2008 16:03

do you know why you feel so horrible?
then may be able to offer more suggestions...

Soup and some nice crusty bread always works with me if I haven't eaten for a while .

I take it you have been poorly ?

If you are trying to build yourself up then maybe some of those slim fast drinks would work ? I know that sounds a bit odd but they are full of vits etc and a shake would not be as daunting as a full meal .

Some really nice yoghourt? Some Innocent Smoothies / Thickies? When I am off my food I like gloop - it goes down quite easily once you have got started .

The thought of cold milk isn't making me feel sick, I'll try that! I'm not really ill, just a bit down and once I miss a few meals it's really hard to start again.

risotto?

moopymoo · 06/10/2008 16:46

plain boiled rice with soy sauce?

sarah876 · 06/10/2008 16:48

maybe your a little down.....do something vigorous that will activate your appetite...like a long brisk walk....you'll be starving after.

beansmum · 06/10/2008 16:58

I REALLY want one of those jellies with berries in from m&s, but I can't get one today! Rice might work. ds is having sausages, but I don't fancy them at all.

Did you have anything?

I like soup by itself when I don't feel like eating much.

Also crackers with peanut butter and raisins on top is nice, with a mug of hot choc! x

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/10/2008 11:35

try putting a few snacky things out in front of the pc and see if that helps you nibble without noticing.

BecauseImAWitch · 08/10/2008 11:36

Are you drinking plenty? How about some Lucozade to keep your energy up? Orange juice and/or smoothies for some vitamins as well as energy

Or hot chocolate, to get the milk (more like food) into your system.

beansmum · 08/10/2008 16:08

I've had a few things, struggling with dinner still but fruit for brekkie and miso soup for lunch is going down alright. ds wasn't keen on lunch today, I hope he's not caught whatever is wrong with me.
