think my cut is infected....

I cut the top of my finger with a kitchen knife last week and needed 2 stiches....

I have kept it covered with a plaster - changing it daily to keep it clean - but have now had to take it off as the plaster is sticking to the wound and making it really sore....

I have taken the plaster off today and the wound is not healing well and is very sore and I have lost feeling where the area is stiched and this extends to the tip of the finger...It doesn't smell funny

I'm due to go to the dr in the morning to have the stiches taken out...does it sound like it's infected to you? If it is what will happen??

Is there any pus? Is it swollen or inflammed? These would be key signs of infection.

If it is infected then you should just get ABs to sort it out. If you are seeing GP tomorrow anyway I don't think I would do anything before then. Let him take a look and decide.

tis very swollen and inflammed and is definately getting worse over the last two days or so...could be pus that's making the plaster stick tothe cut sorry if tmi

will wait for tomorrow then...think they mentioned a tetenus shot...really not looking forward to that

i have some of my ds's antiseptic wound spray (non stinging apparently) - do you think i should I give the cut a quick spray?

I don't think I would. Unless the inflammation is moving up your hand it should wait until tomorrow.

OTOH it probably can't hurt....
