GP gave dh the same advice when he took ds - just leave it.

shortcircuit · 27/09/2008 23:46

My Dd had on at the begining of the summer hols. I took her to the dr. He said it will just go & that I didn't need to cover it. DD was a bit facsinated by it, picked it off & it never came back, in the space of a few weeks.

mother3 · 28/09/2008 02:01

my daughter had a verruca and i took her to the foot clinic. The lady asked what treatments i had given her and advised they were no good. The lady asked if i had bananas in the house. She advised me to rub the banana skin on the verruca.I thought she was potty but i tried it anyway.Do you know i am so glad i took her advice as the verruca vanished. My daughter has never had one since. Its like an old wifes tale but it worked.LOst count of the money i spent at chemist to try to cure it.

Chocolateteapot · 28/09/2008 07:25

I second banana having read about it on here. Cut a little slither and hold it in place with a plaster .

MissusH · 28/09/2008 07:34

ooh - I am going to try the banana thing as none of the chemist stuff works.

Went to a podiatrist who said they would go on their own but have 3 of the little buggers, 1 of which has been around for 6 years

Assume you put a new bit on every day and how long until I can start booking pedicures again ...?

Chocolateteapot · 28/09/2008 07:51

Yes a new bit daily or more regularly if it falls off. The turn black and very flat after a bit and look nothing like bananas! I kept a piece in the fridge to cut bits off. Also acted as a bit of a cushion so helped DD when hers hurt.

Lemontart · 28/09/2008 08:06

oooh so glad I read this thread! Been struggling with Bazooka gel for my 5 yr old and it has just made her foot look awful. Might try the banana skin trick and see what happens.

mother3 · 28/09/2008 10:29

lemomtart i hope it works for your daughter.Even some people might mock(no names mentioned)It the skin of banana not a little bit of banana in the fridge held to gether with a plaster. It was not a wind up about banana skin.Just thought i would add my experience .It helped my daughter so i hope it could help others.

OhWellNeverMind · 28/09/2008 10:35

Persoannly I find teh banana treatment much more effective after 1 week of Bazooka....but after that one week of bazoka the banana can have it off within a week (cp 3m for bazooka!)

More info on the banana skin please, inside or outside? DD has one I have been treating with bazooka or something thought it was gone and left with a little hole but it seems to be back, she goes swimming every week and I am parinoid teacher will chuck her out for having it even though it is coated with bazuka stuff.

mother3 · 29/09/2008 03:34

Its the in side of banana skin

OhWellNeverMind · 29/09/2008 18:27

Yes it is the white fleshy side of the banana skin.

At first it doesn't appear that the banana is doing anything (other than turning verucc black). Then suddenly it starts to raise up, and then seperate from teh surrounding skin. After about a week it literally drops off with teh banana skin.

Skramble · 30/09/2008 13:26

Right trying that tonight, thanks.

Duct tape!

hellish · 02/10/2008 02:35

Put a waterproof plaster on for swimming. Pools don't bother nowadays, i phoned up and was told that the virus is everywhere, no point in not swimming/ vercca socks.

DD had 3 tried all sorts, but in the end it went away after about 8 months.

hellish · 02/10/2008 02:37

Can banana skin work for warts aswell as veruccas?
mother 3, so you rub the inside of the skin for how long? a few minutes every night?
Or do you need to leave it there (with a plaster)?

JohnsonsShampoo · 03/10/2008 14:06

Hellish - I have always left it there.

Shhould work for warts in theory...because verucca's are identical to warts..just on teh feet.

JJ · 21/05/2009 20:29

Tried the banana peel thing but my 7yo son took it off after about 10 minutes saying it hurt. Is that supposed to happen? I might try just rubbing it tomorrow then covering with duct tape. Getting two remedies in at once, I suppose.

Chinwag · 21/05/2009 21:05

I use these, and they work a treat. You just have to cover with another plaster to stop them sliding.

hellywobs · 22/05/2009 12:29

I'd be inclined to leave it. However, you can end up with more of them. In my early 20s I got lots and it was pretty disgusting, but they all went by themselves in the end.

BCNS · 22/05/2009 12:46

I second duct tape

works a treat
