Heavy dragging feeling in lower stomach, any thoughts please?

Its just above where my lady garden stops iykwim it feels tender, not painful but uncomfortable. Sex is also uncomfortable in that area but inside, feels like its hitting a bruise. Its been for the last 10 days or so, am also slightly constipated i'm worried i have some sort of prolapse or something?? Or maybe an infection? I did call the gp but can't get an appointment for 2 weeks unless i go as an emergency which this isn't. Any advice please?

You can pay your local BUPA hospital for a private pelvic scan.

I wouldn't be able to afford a private scan. Just been googling and my symptoms fit a bladder prolapse

I've suffered with a pain that sounds similar to yours in a similar place for some time and had all sorts of investigations (ovary's/scans/laproscopy/even sex therapy talks incase it was in my head! etc)

They've ended up diagnosing a 'looped bowel' possibly only occuring since pregnant with my DS.

But basically there is a kind of twist/loop in my lower bowel which means that waste gets 'stuck' there (causing pain) unless I'm eating certain things in a certain way to keep everything 'shifting along the bus' so to speak.

I'd be happy to tell you more about what to try/do about it if you think yours might be this too?

MD where are you? Some hospitals have walk in gynae clinics...

PonderingThoughts - that sounds scary! My doctor is worse than useless so am going to print out your post and take it with me if thats ok? Just to give him something to think about!
Janin - i'm in birmingham, i don't know of any walk in clinics but will have a google.
Its not painful as such but i'm always aware of it.

MD - it took me over a year to get a diagnoses and it ended up being a specialist at hospital (I've been referred here there and everywhere!) that diagnosed me.

It's actually not scary at all, and can be managed by myself without the need for surgery which would would be scary).

It's actually basic common sense and all made so much sense when she was explaining.

Had to keep a food diary for a month, but whatever I eat has an effect about 2 days later...and I was so caught in a viscious circle that I was just having pain all the time!

Now I know that that thick stodgy bread wrapped around a filling in a baguette/sandwich, rushed down whilst I'm on the go, doesn't suit me and two days later will cause me pain.
I need to sit still, and sit up properly and eat pitta bread or criossant or brioche instead of a door step sarnie or baguette, and ensure I chew it properly etc.
I also MUST eat breakfast to kick-start my stomach and bowel muscles into action so that they don't become slovernly, then get a tone of hard to digest food slung at them and expect them to work perfectly.

It's all about what you eat, when you eat and HOW you eat - in my case anyway.

You could try it whilst waiting for our appointment if you think it might be this.

Write down EVERYTHING that you eat/drink.

Try a handful of brazil nuts for breakfast, or apricots with a yoghurt or something - instead of toast

DON'T have a sandwich and crisps for lunch - worst possible lunch according to my lady. Have something different, pasta, or salad or Jacket spud, crackers or something Or if you have to have bread, have very thin bread/pitta/brioche and break it with your fingers into smaller bits that you will chew down.

DON'T eat your evening meal too late at night and rest for at least 30 mins after eating. After about an hour of eating, do something - even if it's just clearing away/tidying kitchen - if you are moving then your stomach and bowel muscles find it easier to get working & pushing food through etc.

After a couple of days see if it has made any difference to your pain.

I have a uterine prolapse and often get exactly the feeling you describe although I hdn't actually connected the two......duh . So could be something prolpasing, fingers crossed for you its not.

Sounds very like a prolapse.

I really hope its not a prolapse. Have just called the out of hours clinic to see if i can go in and be seen as it seems to be getting worse and i'm a bit worried it might be a bladder infection, if so i want to get anti biotics before it gets a proper hold on me.
Am just waiting for them to call me back.
