Yes I would use it! It's like not giving cows milk to drink until 1yr, as if a specific date suddenly changes them so much that its now ok! Not laughing at you, just amuses me in general.

hercules · 25/02/2005 21:37

Yes, use it.

alison222 · 25/02/2005 22:38

I'm sure I did on DD. My tub is so old it didn't have any ages on it. Just don't use very much at a time

Skribble · 25/02/2005 22:48

Unless they are very small for age or have other problems I would and have.

lilsmum · 25/02/2005 22:51

wasnt there a report in france about vapour rub maybe causing fits? i dont know what happened with this but i have been scared of using it on my dd (13mth) ever since. xx

Cam · 26/02/2005 15:25

Is it the one specifically for babies?

sarahu · 26/02/2005 17:16

Boots do their own version in the "three months plus range" it is for (obviously) babies of three months up. much much milder than the normal stuff. i still use it on DD who is 21 months

iota · 26/02/2005 17:41

see this thread re scare here

alison222 · 26/02/2005 18:52

There is a baby one now, which has much less vapour coming from it and has other oils in it too, like lavender to help relax them

SeaShells · 26/02/2005 18:54

There's one called Snuffle babes or something like that especially for babies, we put Vics on our DD when she was too young and she came out in a huge rash.

alison222 · 26/02/2005 18:54

Oh just read that link - scary - but it does seem to be if you ingest it or put it on your face. What does everyone else think?

SeaShells · 26/02/2005 18:56

You could try putting it on a tissue nearby when they're sleeping, then they'll breathe in the vapours but it won't be on them.

Bozza · 26/02/2005 20:01

I used to put it on the sheet for DS.

Cam · 27/02/2005 12:30

Baby Balsam by Vicks is for babies of 3 months and up. I wouldn't put it on a child's face, only their chest.

WigWamBam · 27/02/2005 13:38

My dd is nearly 4 and I still use the Boots three months + one. It's still effective and not as harsh as Vicks.

steppemum · 27/02/2005 21:19

a nurse friend of mine warned me against using the vapour rubs too early as many contain menthol which can cause small babies to stop breathing. So I always use ones designed especially for babies.
