Ice in a teatowel and hold it on his finger for at least 20 minutes.

Put it under cold running water

Don't feel bad, I once left my hair straightners on and DS fell on them, ended up in A&E with a nasty burn on his hand, felt like crap about it!
I suppose it's too late for running under cold water? Is it a big blister?

DS burnt his hand on our stupid hob last year. Lots of blisters, took him to A & E who said to give him Calpol and keep an eye on them - make sure they didn't get infected.

We tried to get him to play with ice cubes in a bowl of cold water but that he completely freaked at that and we really scared him by our panic.

He was fine in a couple of days. Hope your DS is ok now.

This happened to me the other day. In fact DS came into the kitchen whilst I was cooking and I had the oven door open. He started crying and I looked round to see him sitting on the floor holding his hand and crying. I thought he had trapped it in the cupboard door again and gave him a kiss and a cuddle. Then yesterday I was playing with him when I noticed blisters and raw skin. It was only then that I realised that he must have pulled himself up and burnt his hand. Uh! I felt like the worst mother alive.
I am putting germoline on it, and I won't be so careless in the kitchen anymore.

I was worse, DS has a radiator next to his bed and must have fell asleep with his hand on it (we did have it covered but he pulled the towel off). I noticed when he told me he had a sore finger, he actually had 2, both blistered. DH (a first aider) dressed his fingers and we put some stickers on the dressing. We also called them his finger rockets. Since then, radiator is now off.
I felt rotten for not noticing but it happens. He'll be fine. Keep an eye on it and soon his finger will be fine and you won't feel like shit until the next time he does something.

Would he hold an ice lolly in his hand. Maybe easier than trying to out his hand in ice.

I think it's too late for the water. Just give him some Calpol if he seems in pain.

Cold water still soothes a burn, ages after it happened. I don't know if it helps heal it then, though.

I always found aloe vera gel to be good, too.

Hi rickman - try not to feel too guilty. I know we all do when these things happen but it's just one of those things. He'll be fine and he won't remember it. Glad to hear he's more comfy.

Glad to hear it . It should heal pretty quickly now. I'm always amazed how fast their skin recovers.

Don't worry about - it happens to us all (well not bursn in my case but at least 5 (between the 2 of them) instances of falling downstairs..

Can't beat me on the guilt front.

Sunday, was cooking roast, needed to get chuck out of the oven and Dp was out in the front garden so instead of putting DD in her chair or walker i put her in the arm chair and put loads of toys up there for her to play with. Usually put cushions accross the front of the chair but forgot as i was rudhing to get chicken out.

Next thing heard remote control fall ont he the floor with a thud, then heard DD follow with an even bigger thud - she was trying to get to the remote as it fell and crashed straight onto the hard wood floor!

She is only 7 months old - i sat and cried and shook and felt sick for hours after. She was absolutely fine though!

DH once dropped DS1 aged about 8 months. DS1 was screaming his lungs out so he was being the 'good daddy' and trying to cheer him up, had him in one arm, cuddly toy in the other making silly noises, DS2 'launched' himself backwards straight out of DH's arms (DH is 6ft so long drop).........

I put my little one (just at the age when they learn to roll over)on the bed to be changed and when I went to get something I had forgotten I even remember thinking " I shouldn't leave her on the bed cause I think she can roll over now" BUT I still went to get whatever it was and left her on the bed and just I was walking back in the room she was falling off the bed. Did A good impression of Superman as I tried to get there quick enought o catch her before she hit the floor. Didn't quite manage it but she was fine. Had a panicky call to NHS Direct , a hot sugary tea , a few hours shaking and a HUGE amount of guilt but she really was o.k.
DDon't feel bad cause accidents happen, I was a worse Mummy than you cos I even thought I shouldn't and still did!!!!!
Cold water will always soothe and Littluns heal alot faster than you would think

Make sure you all have lavender oil in the house.

For burns - run under cold water for at least 10 min then put the lavender on it. It really works - I burnt myself on the breadmaker twice yesterday and put it on - the blister went down straight away.

I use it on all my C/Ming babies (signed written permission - obviously)

And it's also great on bumps and bruises....put it on in the first 2 mins after a bump and the bruise will be so much smaller
