Please somebody talk to a namechanging regular about genital warts and their treatment?

I know its a genital wart, a previous partner had them and despite being careful with condoms I have just found a very small one on my inner labia.

How are they treated these days? DP knows I have found one and is also getting checked out.

I had mine frozen off like they do with verrucas. This was 13 years ago now. Bloody hell, when I started writing this I thought it felt quite recent IYSWIM!!!

V V painful, but obviously not as bad as childbirth

Anyone else got any idea what they will do to my fanjo? I have appt tomorrow morning...

Go to GU Clinic - they spend all day every day looking at fanjos.

They will freeze it off. It is uncomfortable, but I didn't find it desperately painful.

You will probably feel sorry for yourself for about 24 hours.

Sometimes they laser them off as its more precise than freezing. V V common though.

I went in with an itchy fanjo (far tmi I know ), and whilst he was investigating that he found the warts. I have only been with DH, and we have never seen any on him. He was such a lovely doctor. I have never felt that at ease with someone prodding me about.

I had them after DS was born...a quick traumatic labour and and all of a sudden they appeared. Never had them before or since.

GUM clinic were brilliant...2 sessions of freezing and they were gone. Don't remember it being painful just cold.

mummypoppins - I had them once but never again. My sister got them but hadn't had sex for ages. They were bought on by stress and low weight. Hers keep coming back

yep the GUM said they thought I had the virus lying dormant and childbirth bought them on !! apparantley thats quite common.

Remember to get regular smears, as they are associated with cervical cancer. I had them when I was 17 and have since had a dodgy smear which needed a Letz biopsy.

All clear now though.

It went fine thanks! Was indeed a small wart, and they froze it, which hurt less than I thought but still not entirely comfy.

Next lot of questions - what happens to it now? It's still there - will it shrink slowly or go black and fall off or what? What if anything can I do to prevent them coming back?

it just falls off in a few days
