Mirena Coil Fitted For 2 Years and am Spotting Bleeding Every Three Weeks

Hi all, I hope someone can give me some advice. For the last 2 months I have been experiencing dark brown spotting for around 3 days every 3 weeks its a little bit lumpy too. I have had a Merina coil fitted for just 2 years. I had the usual trouble in the first 6 months of having it fitted, but all settled down and have had no periods since. I had a routine smear 5 months ago and that was fine. Why am I now spotting? I also get some pain very low down on both sides every known again. My GP has told me to keep a diary. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

you need your GP to physically look a your cervix (smear was before your bleeding started)
and take swabs if appropriate. it would be difficult to say that your bleeding were down to your mirena unless you were investigated. ask your GP if a scan is appropriate.

Thanks. Any idea what it could be or could it be any number of things? Have searched net and cannot find any similar probs with Mirena?
