Is it ok to use Canesten for thrush if you're pregnant?

I'm only about 6 weeks. I really don't want to have to go to the doctor just for this but it is pretty uncomfortable. I have spent so much time sitting in waiting rooms the last week and really don't want to again.

think it is, but only under mw supervision, I THINK

Yeah, it is - I've had thrush pretty much constantly throughout this pregnancy and have used the cream and been prescribed the pessary. Think they don't like to give the oral treatment while you're up the duff, but check with your GP or mw.

I hope you have better luck shifting it than I did!

I had it LOADS when pg with ds - bloody nightmare

i'd phone your mw [as opposed to making an appointment] but i believe so. i used it and i think the advice is to not insert too far in [sorry too much info]

also, your pharmacist should know, although of course always safer to ask mw or gp

Thanks for replies. I think I've got it because I had a lot of antibiotics lately...

you can use the cream and the pessary but not the oral treatment and with the pessary you shouldn't use the little applicator that comes with it - just pop it in with your finger instead then it can't go too far up!
