bleeding between periods and after sex.

i have two children dd - 5 and ds 20 months. my periods have been heavier since dd but since ds they have gone quite haywire.

after ds i started bleeding after sex and this is increasing more and more. it is not red blood but brown. I am also starting to have longer and longer periods. for example this month I started with the brown blood two weeks ago. this then turned into a period over a week ago and i today i have more brown blood(i also had sex this morning) which has made it increase.

i have had two smears since ds and they come back clear.

do you think i should go and see a dr? I did see one for my first smear but she did not seem concerned and ds was not that old.

it really should have settled now i think and not be getting worse????

I would write it down and see the doctor tbh - have no idea what the problem is, but it's medical and unpleasant for you so no harm in seeing gp.

Yes you need to see your GP.

The most common causes are infection or inflammation of the cervix.

Have your previous smears been normal? Have you had a new partner in the past 6 months?

i had one dodgy smear about five years ago and since then have had three or four which have all come back clear. no new partner either.

think i am going to bite the bullet and see gp. hate going about things like this.

That all sounds reassuring. I'm sure it'll be fine. Its all in a day's work for a GP, so no need to be reluctant or embarassed.

I had the same thing and I plucked up courage to go to the GP. She referred me to the gynae dept at the hospital. I only had to wait for four weeks or so, then I had to go for a hysteroscopy, which was uncomfortable but not agony.

Anyway, the gynocolgist had a good look around my insides - probably the first and last time I'll see the inside of my womb in glorious technicolour on a tv monitor - and took a biospy.

The results came back and everything is fine. It's just unexplained bleeding, and he recommended the Mirena coil for the future.

I really am the worst for not going to my GP. That's the first time I'd been for about 8 years. But you really should go. It's not necessarily anything sinister, but best to get it checked out.

Indigo - it sounds like Cervical Erosion to me.

I have it and it's less awful than the name suggests. Something to do with your pink type skin (think inside of mouth) coming down over your 'normal' skin at the top of your cervix. It can make it quite raw though not painful and i too bleed between periods and after sex.

I have had three clear smears since finding out i had this. The only cure (which is not permanent) is to have the cells blasted away under local anaesthetic which is apparently not the nicest of procedures and my GP decided my case wasn't worth the hassle iyswim.

I too had a hysteroscopy and mine didn't hurt - although i did have to cough alot to get my bits to come down enough!!!

I'm very similar to you. Bleeding post sex, during cycle, brown blood etc. Have had dodgy smears in the past and colposcopy treatment. Docs have told me that I am prone to cervical erosion which seems to be fairly common. Apparently cells that are normally inside the cervix make their way outside and can then become irritated and therefore prone to bleed on (ahem )contact with dp. Would def see your doctor for investigation, but hope this reassures you.

X post PB&R . I've had mine blasted a few times . Not that bad, honestly. Just a bit uncomfortable and crampy afterwards.

Tried googling it it looks dreadful but i think this is always the case!

They asked me if I wanted to watch it on the TV the first time I had it done as they has a camera pointed in the direction of my fanjo! I politely declined

I have this - my practise nurse told me when I went for a smear - she said not to worry about it unless it became a problem. She had a technical term for it and said it was probably caused by my mirena.

I was told i wasn't suitable for a Mirena because of it.

Nobody mentioned it until after I had it fitted. I will get it removed if it gets any worse but it is blimin great!
