Help-DS(18mo) has a nasty cut on his chin

DS fell over and cut his chin on a bit of his train set about 30mins ago. ive cleaned it up and put a plaster on, but hes pulled iit off and its still bleeding a little bit.Its about 2cm long and looks quite deep. If it was me I wouldnt be worried it does look nasty and like it might leave a scar-should I take him somewhere to have it looked at?

also he seems quite happy so it cant hurt that much- im just gonna try putting another plaster on. I looked on nhs direct but it was useless

I'd take him to have it looked at - GP nurse or local Minor Injuries unit. They could probably steri-strip it or glue it rather than stitching. My DH always reminds me that if DS did something similar, I should follow the above advice. Apparently if you have dodgy scars on your chin, it makes shaving harder.

Take him to nearest minor injuries unit/a&e/walk in centre. It might need those little strips to hold it together while it heals - this will minimise scarring.

Thanks for the replies, I phoned NHS direct up and they said take him to the Minor Injuries unit. We had to wait 2 hours but DS they stuck his little chin back together with purple glue, although they did say its likely hes gonna have a scar there afterwards.

My DS1 did something similar at 16 months, he actually had to have stitches, it was the days before glue. He is 18 later this month and it is not noticeable now and doesn't cause any problems when shaving. Hope that reassures you and your little DS is not too unhappy now
