Hello there

After months of fighting GPs I at last was referred to the Diabetes and Metabolic medicines department at the RBH.

However I am confused as my GP specifically asked in his letter that I be seen in the PCOS clinic, but my letter for the appointment doesn't say ANYTHING about the PCOS clinic.

Just general Endo clinic.....confused help!

What did your first appointment letter say?

PCOS is usually caused by your endocrine system being up the spout. it is an imbalance between your oestrogen and progesterone levels. diabetes and metabolism are also endocrine probs so all hormonal probs are usually referred to the endocrine dept first and then gynae later if need be. some hospitals call this the endocrine department some call it by other names like diabetic clinic, etc, so it may be that your hospital calls it the Diabetes and Metabolic medicines department but in encompasses the whole hormonal umbrella.
does that help or reassure?
if not, phone and ask to be sure, most hospitals won't mind you checking up, and the ones that do, stuff 'em!! (but still insist on asking
