I stabbed myself in the thumb - do I need A&E?

It's painful so I cant type that much.

I ended up stabbing myself (accidentally) in the soft fleshy pad of my thumb, about 1" from the end. It's gone a kind of pale bluish white colour, feels quite numb and cold. Dp says this is just to be expected but I'm worried I've damaged the circulation or something.

A&E or wait and see?

No, thumb still attached . I was very worried Tuesday and Wednesday because it was so pale and so cold and numb but today I woke up and its colour has half returned, it's warm and only numb around the tip so I think I'm going to survive this time.

What a total wally though. I won't be doing that again!

Thanks for all the concern everyone.

Ooh good, I was getting worried.

Now get thee to the shop for oranges before you need to demonstrate again

More than that, I've booked us in with the nurse at the GP to run through it all again.

Dd went into anaphylactjc shock last Christmas after eating peanuts for the first time and ended up in ICU. We've been equipped and at the ready with epipens ever since but have never had to use them so the training I was given in the hospital has sunk in my mind.
