Can an insect bite look like chicken pox blisters?

Cos DTD2 has 2 spots on her neck which at first glance I thught they were pox...but she has had chicken pox and shingles. They look like little clear blishers with a bit of reddness around.

Could they be bites, or something "medical"/contagious? She says they don't itch. And has no fever

She also has a very bad tummy ache but that is unlikely to be related.

I would keep an eye out for any more. chicken pox can start on a child's neck, they are spots that turn to blisters and they spread quickly. If she's already had it and shingles then she should be immune but I have read posts on mn where children have had it again. Bites are also itchy because the bite causes a reaction in the skin. I would take her to the GP if any more develop. Plant rashes (ie, reaction to stinging nettles/pollen) can cause blistering.

Mozzie bites look like that after you've had them a while & scratched the top off, but they usually do itch - not all the time though, ask her if they itch sometimes?

The blister has subsided now - although she is left with some inflamation.

Deffo not chicken pos (I don't think). She would have had more come up by now. I think she has one more on her leg (which does itch).

I think they must be bites, but I will keep an eye..

I thought you could get shingles more than once.

i have had bited that look like fluid filled blisters, infact one ended up so big it looked like a giant egg yolk attached to my leg

ha ha ha. i had it the other way - pox that everyone thought were insect bites. on day 3 it became immediately apparent that it was chicken pox as the bites were spreading rapidly. we were on holiday and i got thrown out of the hotel.

otoh, dd1 woke up covered in red spots and the doc told us she def had chicken pox. the next day she woke up and they'd all gone.

good luck with making any sense of that! i'd say you'd know for definite within, oooh, two or three days?

Also check Molluscum. Looks very similar, even dries black like chicken pox. Very contagious. Ask the chemist for the medication to kill it off. It wasn’t available when my son & daughter had it, it became available toward the end of my daughters & worked brilliantly. Sadly they suffered with it for years & they can become infected & be extremely painful.
