Hand, foot & mouth virus

Is it contagious before you start showing symptoms, i.e mouth ulcers, blisters on hand & feet? And how long after the blisters form are you still infectious?

My DS has not long had this and i got told it's contagious from a week before the symptoms apare, (air born and useing the same glass etc) untill the blisters have cleared up.

BUT the virus is still in the fecises (sp?) for 4 to 6 and can still be contagious that way.

sorry that should be 4 to 6 weeks after the blisters/ulcers have gone.
