I had a scan for gallstones last week, GP has just rung to say she needs to see me tomorrow to discuss the results - GULP

Part of me is thinking - wow how efficient the NHS has become recently whilst the other half of me is thinking OMG - why so quick and why does she need to see me tomorrow?

Crossing fingers that tomorrow's meeting with dr will be to go through surgery options and booking procedure.

My friend had her gall bladder removed years ago, she had keyhole surgery and she was right as rain after.

Thanks BoysAre. It's amazing how many people I have spoken to recently have had same - one mum at school had a whole year of really painful attacks, some lasted days, before anything was done.

I'm just scared incase they have found anything else. Mind is racing.

i have had mine out and am completely fine now. i am so glad that i had it done cause my pains were awful and lasted for days. this went on for a year. my gp told me it was indegestion. i finally fell really ill last year and had to go to hospital with pancreatitis which the doctor said if i had left it any longer to go to hospital i could have died!!

at least you are getting sorted. let us know what she says.

All you can tell yourself is that the NHS is being super-efficient, and try to relax (yeah, right)

i had mine done privately cause i didnt fancy the 9 months waiting list. i was in that much pain alot of the time and didnt want the pancreatitis to come back.

Sounds nasty lizandlulu - my uncle had the same last year. He was very ill but is fine now.

It's the fact that they have got back to me so quickly that makes me feel a little uneasy.

maybe they just found some stones and want to get rid of them before they move?

did the sonographer not tell you the results there and then? Perhaps that is thier policy and it only takes a phone call to tell your GP or letter. So now the doctor wants to discuss options. I was told to make my own appointment with the doc, who then made me an appointment with a specialist who was absolutely amazing because i went to see him, he came into the room where i was sat waiting, after the nurse told me to lay on the bed, said hello, youve got gallstones, best get that gall bladder out, off you trot!! I kid you not!!!

Anyway, i digress. I am pretty sure if it were serious they would have told you there and then tbh as i remember a girl looking horrified after a scan when i had mine and she said, oh, i'll go to my doctor then, they said, no no, you go and see Mr X now and we will get things moving for you.

Its probably just procedure.

Well after a night of very little sleep where I convinced myself that I must have a huge inoperable tumour and a few months to live - I am terrible at dwelling on stuff like that, especially at night. Anyhoo - I am fine. No stones but my gall bladder is slightly thickened which shows that the pain I had a few weeks ago was probably a stone being passed. No sign of anymore at the moment. Kidney, liver etc all look fine but they couldn't see my pancreas due to bowel gas .

GP advised low fat diet, lots of fruit and veg and moderate alcohol (hurrah). Just carry on as normal, if pain reoccurs they will investigate further.

ah, im so pleased for you. I was a bit concerned that they called you in tbh. So releived to hear all is well. Passing the stone OMG!!!!! You must have been in AGONY - hope you feel better. Nothing like a bit of biliary colic to help maintain a low fat diet

I asked the GP why I couldn't be told over the phone but she said it was new procedure. I told her it had made me quite anxious and she said she would note that and that perhaps they needed to rethink it.
