Friday i had a little pink spot on my shin. I'm a picker so i squeezed it. not much came out.
it was sore. by the end of the day said spot was surrounded by a fifty pence piece size of redness.
very sore.
by the next day it was bigger than a golf ball, quite red. and pink around that. not raised, but swollen. and hurt a lot when touched. was sore when i walked too.
sunday still sore and red. hot to the touch.
today sweilling has gone down and isn't as war, looks more like a bruise healing. like someone hit me with a golf ball.
went to the DR. he said something probably bit me. WHAT THE FUCK BIT ME??? back home things bite you they swell and then go down they do'nt look like you were hit by a truck!!!
anyone? please?

Could it be an ingrown hair ?

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 14/07/2008 19:41

i guess. just infected?
i've had infected ingrown hairs before but nothing like this!

My bet is a spider bite. They are suprisingly nasty.

Evenstar · 15/07/2008 05:31

I was bitten by a horse fly once and had a similar reaction, but I do react badly to most insect bites, are they normally a problem for you?

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 15/07/2008 08:41

had horse fly bites before. never had any reaction to it though. seriously it looks like someone took a bat to my leg.

spider? could be. but that would mean there was a spider in my bed...

all spiders are poisonous so if one bit you you might have had a reaction to the toxins.

belgo · 15/07/2008 08:47

yes could be a spider bite. My dh had about 20 very painful spots on the back of his neck the first time he slept in our loft, before it was renovated, and the doctor said probably spider bites.

Caz10 · 15/07/2008 08:50

my entire leg went up from a spider bite once ,and the spider in question was teensy...another reason they are evil

i took anti-histamine tablets, they helped

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 15/07/2008 08:54

i just googled spider bites.

i really REALLY wish i hadn't.

I got bitten by a garden spider once and had a similar reaction. Only knew I had been bitten as I saw it happen. Pain not so bad as the shock of seeing this huge beast on my foot. My foot swelled up so much I could not wear a shoe for several days and took a good two weeks before it felt and looked normal again.
Convinced it was a tropical escapee, I rushed to the local hospital with the animal trapped in a lunchbox courtesy of Dh. Oh the embarrassment when they told me it was just a normal spider found in every garden and just to pop a little anti histamine and painkillers "if I really couldn?t handle the slight pain!" I am feeling mortified all over again thinking about it. Still, it was a nasty bite.

christiana - that sounds very nasty. Seaweed is an ingredient which is used in a lot of dressings, as it really helps healing, particularly deep wounds.

Uriel · 15/07/2008 09:12

A tick?

I think what happened to you Christiana was fairly unusual, and wouldn't usually happen, so try not to worry about that Sirdigby!

has the doctor given you medication Sirdigby?

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 15/07/2008 09:41

nope. he said since it had improved he wouldn't bother. but to call him if it got bad again. [that's typical of my GP...'oh, it's probably nothing']

i'm really thinking about it now. friday night i had the chills and a headache and couldn't sleep becuase my heart was pounding. i wonder if it was related?

iMum · 15/07/2008 10:36

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 15/07/2008 10:39

THAT'S THE PAGE I LOOKED AT!!! do'nt look at it. really. especially if you think you were bit by a spider in your bed.
