just recently i have had loads of niggling problems.

at the moment i'm waiting for cardiology to check me out as i keep getting a pressure/tightness in chest etc

for a few weeks now i have had this feeling of something stuck in my oesophagus, sort of where adams apple would be and the bit that dips in above collar bones . it has varied from feeling like a hair or something to feeling really choked (as it is today)

i spent all last week hardly eating (lost 6lbs) because every time i did i got stomach pain. i have also had the odd pain in my ears , but i'm assuming thats notn connected.

i use beconase nasal spray, could it be that do you think ?

dh thinks i'm a hypochondriac!

the doctor can't see me until tomorrow, he'll probably aggree with dh.

i just can't cope keep feelin yuk
i suddenly panicked yesterday that something drastic was happening to me and i was alone with the kids

please help

sorry your feeling bad, have a look at this though, it might help

Kewcumber · 14/07/2008 14:33

I'm not tryiong to diagnose but just to reassure you - my mum had this and panicked evrey bit as much as you are. She has excess stomahc acid all celared up with some strong antacids.

Lumop in the throat and stomach type stuff is all made far worse by stress.

(my mum aslo has a heart murmur btw)

Could it be anxiety related ? Lots of the clients I work with in psychotherapy have similar symptoms - chest tightness, difficulty swallowing etc. Ignore me if not relevant - but some of these physical symptoms can be brought on by anxiety.

cadelaide · 14/07/2008 14:35

I had that cheeryface, in my case caused by anxiety.

Still get it now sometimes.

becaroo · 14/07/2008 19:07

I had this and was put on gastric acid inhibitors - Omeprazole - much better now.

lazarou · 14/07/2008 19:15

I get this too. Feels like there is something in my throat but when I swallow it doesn't go down. I think it's anxiety, but I have asthma too so that might affect it.
Sometimes food gets stuck in my throat too.

cheeryface · 15/07/2008 22:00

i am beginning to think anxiety although i do keep suffering indigestion too!so maybe the acid thing.

i have relationship problems, have had for 10 years, although most of the time i accept things , i wonder whether it causes me these physical things without my realising .

thanx for the help

Cheeryface - maybe you could ask to be referred to a psychologist or therapist. The 'stuck in the throat' problem can often be linked to a fear of expressing one's needs clearly or communicating difficult things with others.

bluefox · 15/07/2008 22:08

I had this too - also caused by anxiety.

cheeryface · 15/07/2008 22:31

the reason i am now thinkiing anxiety is because i have had odd days where i don't have a dodgy throat and i don't have a pressure feeling in chest

if there was something wrong with my heart maybe it would be there all the time?

at least i'll know for sure in a few weeks when i attend cardiology appointment.

if this is anxiety then i will have to seriously do something about it.
i will be amazed though that it could cause such horrid symptoms!

have had to change doctors appointment today as couldn't make it on time

Yes symptoms can be awful. I was convinced I had some terrible disease and had tests including barium meal, camera down throat etc. Nothing abnormal found.

Honneybunny · 16/07/2008 07:58

Hi Cheeryface,
it crossed my mind that it could be your thyroid?

If you are hyperthyroid, you'd have a goiter (swollen thyroid gland) which is exactly where you describe your throat feeling (i actually was first diagnosed with an underactive thyroid when i went to the gp with lumpy throat feeling). It also causes symtoms like anxiety, racing heart, weight loss, heavy feeling on chest etc. So quite a few of the ones that you listed. So, you could ask your gp for a thyroid function test.

Pinkchampagne · 27/07/2008 23:09

I get the feeling of a lump or swelling in my throat too. I am experiencing it again right now, but it comes & goes. when I went to the gp about it, I was told in was probably anxiety related, which figures as it seems to come after I have got myself very stressed for one reason or another.
