Has anyone else experienced this? Coil came out......what is the chance of pregnancy?

I know everyone hates these threads but I had sex last night (don't know what happened) but my coil has come out. My understanding is that the main way it works is that the copper is toxic for the sperm so it kills them on the way in.

So, does that mean I probably won't get pregnant because the coil came out afterwards, not before?

i would get emergency contraception as the sperm can survive within the body for 5 - 7 days. your local pharmacy should sell the MAP and if not, they will know who does. you also need to sort out a new coil

even if your coil came out after sex, it doesn;t sort of zap the sperm dead , it has to be in situ to work!

oh dear ! did you find it? you should be checked out, make sure no damage to you as it came out.

ok - how could it have caused damage? i didn't feel any pain... I could have an emergency coil fitted, couldn't I? My GP rates this more than the MAP because she reckons it's not very effective even when taken early...

Yes I did find it - it was kind of hanging out of my cervix - could feel the plastic bit.

just when they are put in , the cervix is held open. am sure it is fine. but is always best to be checked out. definitely see GP. coil is also effective emergecny contraception
