Stopping dry coughing in 2 year old

My 2 yr old dd has a virus causing v and d and coughing

She seems to be geting over the v and d aspect but has a dry hacking cough which is stopping her from sleeping - as soon as she lies down off she goes. Doctor was neither use nor ornament - any tips to help her sleep. Don't really want to give any medicines as may upset tummy.Thanks.

Honey very good for coughs. I give mine a spoonful before bed.

Have you tried propping the cot up or giving her a pillow?

I usually leave the window open in the hope that fresh air will clear DS's congestion, and sometimes steam / wet washing in the room can help.
